Washing, Conditioning & Treatments
I wash my hair just about every other day. I will go longer between washes whenever possible. I do NOT wash my length every time. I let my length get wet, and use the herbs on my scalp, then lift my length out of the way and rinse my scalp so the herbs don't run down my hair. When I don't wash the length, I won't condition it either.
If my length looks oily, I will wash it then condition it. I'm using Amla & Cassia as a 1x a month treatment. ProductsI've started using herbs on my hair exclusively now. I find that I can go a little longer between washes without my hair getting extremely greasy, and my scalp is no longer really itchy, dry and flaky. I'm really happy with how my hair looks (so clean and shiny) after washing it with the herbal mixture! I feel much more content knowing that I'm not using potentially harmful ingredients on my scalp too!
I use Soapnut powder, and a mixture of Shikakai and other herbs from Henna Sooq I'm still experimenting with them to see what works best for me. DryingI never use a blow-fryer.
I never rub it with a towel to dry it. What I usually do is wrap a towel around my shoulders, and lay my hair on top of it. This is so the towel can absorb some of the water, and keep my shirt dry. After maybe 30 minutes I'll remove the towel and let my hair air dry while gently separating the clumps of hair so it can dry faster Combing & BrushingI use Creative comb 8L or a wide tooth comb from Eternally In Amber on wet or dry hair. The body shop wooden comb on dry hair only
I recently bought a Mason Pearson Boar Bristle Brush so I will start using that soon StylesDay: I wear a braid most of the time, but I'm starting to bun again also.
Night: I usually either braid it or leave it loose, but I'm going to start making a high bun more often TrimsI trim my hair myself, as needed. I've been going about 6 months to a year in between trimming.
I'd like to get back in the habit of doing "search & destroy" missions - where I take some time searching for split ends & trim them off. Diet & LifestyleI try to eat a balanced diet - fruits, veggies, meat, dairy etc
I've started taking GNC Ultra NourisHair multivitamins I drink occasionally, but I do not smoke, nor am I around people who do smoke |
